Do you love the movies and movie stars from Hollywood’s Golden Age? “Hollywood Heyday” is a wonderful compendium of unique interviews with movie icons like Fred Astaire, Charleton Heston, James Cagney, Bob Hope, Gregory Peck, Lucille Ball, The Nicholas Brothers, and many more TV and music legends.
David Fantle and Tom Johnson were teenagers in Minnesota who loved classic Hollywood movies. In the late 1970s, as 18 year old college students, they reached out to Fred Astaire by sending a letter asking if they could interview him! That’s unthinkable in today’s world of emails, handlers, and hangers on. Astaire accepted their invitation for an interview if they could come out to Los Angeles, so they scraped money together and headed west.
That interview opened the door to a plethora of other stars. The celebrities figured that if Astaire did it, these guys must be legit! They continued doing funny and fascinating interviews into the ’80s with stars like Jacqueline Bisset, Don Rickles, Peter Falk, Ed Asner, and many more.
