The 2021 NFL Season And Wide Receivers:
It’s week one in the 2021 NFL Season and I am going to share with you a couple of my major matchups to watch for when it comes to breakout fantasy performers. The wide receiver position is the one to watch. There are a lot more wide receivers that are capable of being starters on your fantasy football team than there are running backs or quarterbacks that are capable in the NFL. When it comes to the receiver position, it is the one most likely to bring a surprise break out fantasy player early in the season.
Below are games to watch out for when it comes to wide receivers in the 2021 NFL Season:
Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots
The Miami dolphins with Quarterback TuaTagovailoa, who is a second-year pro quarterback, will have a young stud to watch out for as they take on a tough New England Patriots defense and a rookie QB of their own. Jaylen Waddle, the Dolphins’ first round Wide Receiver pick out of the University of Alabama has a very high ceiling. One great thing about this rookie is that he will also be returning kicks, so he has the chance to break a long one and give you additional fantasy points as well as whatever he brings you in the wide receiver position.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons
The Philadelphia Eagles matchup well against the Atlanta Falcons defense this weekend. It is also quite tantalizing, as they’re starting what is essentially a rookie quarterback, Jalen Hurts. They also have last seasons Heisman Trophy winner, DeVonta Smith, who is a sidekick to the aforementioned Jaylen Waddle from the University of Alabama. Keep a close eye on Smith as he could potentially break out big in his role as the new Julio Jones.
Another reason to watch the Atlanta Falcons versus the Philadelphia Eagles matchup is Kyle Pitts, out of the University of Florida and the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Technically he is a tight end, but he will also break out wide at the wide receiver position, take direct snaps and probably run the ball a couple times, as well as come across the middle as a huge target for Quarterback Matt Ryan. Therefore, Pitts is one of my favorites to watch as he attempts take over a position that has been struggling ever since future Hall of Fame Tight End, Tony Gonzalez, vacated when he retired.
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Minnesota Vikings
Another match up to pay close attention to is the Cincinnati Bengals vs. the Minnesota Vikings. Bengals rookie wide receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, is also teammate to last years rookie break out receiver, Tee Higgins. Both Chase and Higgins attended LSU, which is considered Wide Receiver University, because the university spits out so many top pros at that position. Both guys will have big years, as they get back the rookie sensation QB Joe Burrows, fresh off of injury.
A couple of other receivers to watch In The 2021 NFL Season:
- Henry Ruggs from the Las Vegas Raiders
- Jalen Reagor from the Philadelphia Eagles
- Darnell Mooney from the Chicago Bears
- Marquez Callaway from the New Orleans Saints
These guys are all poised to become WR1 studs in the 2021 NFL Season.
