Grandpa Jim’s Advice On Birthing: How Modern Culture Has Messed Everything Up

Since When Do We Need Books And Advice On Birthing?

There are plenty of books out there for women about becoming a mother. Each and every one written by an expert. In other words…women. It should be pointed out that in the Garden of Eden, Eve figured it out without a book, as did the mothers who gave birth for generations thereafter. It wasn’t until the mid twentieth century that we needed books to procreate.

There Are Two Basic Reasons For This:

  1. Being a mother is hard, reading is easy. The mother- to- be deserves a break to rest up for the unmitigated triathlon on which they are about to embark. Reading is as good as any, since medical folks have outlawed alcohol and drugs during pregnancy. It is one of the great ironies of our time that the use of alcohol, so effective in getting people pregnant, is prohibited when she is pregnant.
  2. While it is unscientific research, at best, it is commonly accepted that women who are expecting a baby will buy anything. The recent rash of “Gender reveal” parties foisted on society by the catering industry is but one example. Try to imagine our grandparents falling for that scam. There was a name for the gender reveal back then. It was called birth. This gender reveal fad has also completely ruined the “It’s A Boy/Girl” cigar trade. Now they hand out bubble gum cigars and then wonder why the kid grows up to be Hollywood actor, instead of doing something useful.

Men And Childbirth

The male of the species is not genetically predisposed to unbridled spending and therefore does not buy everything that is advertised to them. The exception being, of course, men who play golf. Also, It would be hard to fathom a woman ordering, much less using one of those batting helmets that has your team logo on the front and a holder on each side for a beer can. You have to figure that anything like that is male, through and through.

This trend started with the “Big Con,” that men needed to be in the delivery room. If you administer truth serum to any father-to-be and ask if he feels the need to be anywhere near the birth canal when in full operation, you will get a resoundingly negative response, not to mention the irony that you will hear some of the same language that you would hear from your beloved’s mouth if you attended the blessed event.

It is a debate that requires historical perspective. Before the 1970’s babies were born like Jesus, George Washington, Martin Luther King and The Beatles. For comparison as to the creations created, simply go online and look for culture, education or, God forbid, actual news. Attorney advertising would be another example of why birthing should be left to the experts…  doctors and mothers.

Don’t blame the messenger. While it is pretty obvious that liars often attempt to use facts, actual facts don’t lie.
