The Exciting Story Of The NFL Off-season: QB Off-Season Blockbusters Of 2022

Movement In The NFL Off-Season

Well, there’s been a tremendous amount of movement amongst NFL players at every position this off-season, but the quarterback position has dominated the news and for good reason.

The top story has been about all-time G.O.A.T. Tom Brady un-retiring (I called that the minute he announced it) after 40 days And 40 nights of retirement, only to Return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23 NFL season. There was also the never too sure return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Green Bay Packers.

More QB Player Moves

To me, the two biggest quarterback stories aren’t necessarily Brady and Rogers, but the movement of veteran quarterback players like Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson and Baker Mayfield.

Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson joining the Denver Broncos as their starting quarterback is to me the biggest news of all. The Broncos are now an immediate legitimate Super Bowl contender with a solid defense and a Hall of Fame Quarterback, but. The Broncos still have to contend with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, Justin Herbert and the San Diego chargers and (the also revamped) Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders. The AFC West is probably the most dangerous and competitive division in football as of right now. Three teams in the AFC West could legitimately make the playoffs.

Terry Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater joining the Miami Dolphins as their back up quarterback is also significant. Tua Tagovailoa has been often injured and having a capable back up like Teddy Bridgewater gives the Miami Dolphins a chance to capitalize on a great second half of the season last year and make a push for a playoff spot. In addition, Tyrod Taylor joining the New York Giants as their back up Quarterback indicates to me that Sam Darnold and his injury prowess along with inconsistent play could spell a change for the G-Men during the season.

Kirk Cousins

In other NFL notable Quarterback moves, Kirk cousins signed an extension with the Minnesota Vikings which means more of the same, first round playoff contender at best and Carson Wentz was shipped off to the Washington Commanders for yet another shot at living up to his high draft status. That’s the third team in three years though, not holding my breath. Also, Mitchell Trubisky signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers could become one of the top stories of the off-season if the Pittsburgh Steelers pick up where they left off and start making a charge back towards the playoffs.

Baker Mayfield

As for Baker Mayfield, ouch…. first he contests his love for the team, then the team interviews Deshaun Watson, then he demands a trade and finally the Browns sign Watson to a ridiculous deal. Now Baker Mayfield gets his wish from Cleveland. Where will he go? Who really cares? If I had to venture a guess I would say Baltimore, Charlotte or Seattle but again, who really cares? The guy is better at commercials than playing Quarterback in the NFL and if you have seen his TV commercials… that’s not saying much.

I shot his rookie trading card for Panini on the plexi-glass in L.A. and let me tell you, he showed up late, still smelled of booze from the night before and just seemed more cocky than serious about starting his NFL career. I think he never grew out of that.
