Guys, when you hit 50, your body changes. Manopause can kick your butt in more ways than you can count, but the first thing that others see is your skin! And so do you, every morning in the mirror!
Whether you’re looking to change careers, meet a new woman, or just want to look better, an easy and inexpensive way to turn back the clock is by taking care of your skin. And despite what you think, your skin is actually your largest organ.
Skin Care Tips You Need To Try!
Here are some skin care tips for men to get your skin looking young and refreshed!
Use A Good Mild Exfoliating Cleanser
Every morning, wash your face with a gentle exfoliating cleanser. Think of it as fine sandpaper that removes dead skin cells, sweat, and dirt. Add a toner to mop things up after using a cotton ball. At night, cleanse and tone again. Get in the habit, just like brushing your teeth.
Use A Good Moisturizer And Sunscreen
After your morning routine of cleansing, use a good moisturizer to hydrate your skin, especially after shaving. Some moisturizers have “built-in” sunscreen, which is good enough for the work week, especially if you work from home or in an office. If you work outside, use a separate stronger sunblock.
Use Specialty Creams Or Serums If Needed
Have a lot of fine wrinkles around the eyes or on your cheeks? Does your face look like an old leather baseball mitt? You might benefit from a retin-A cream or Vitamin C serum, easy to use, inexpensive, and great at stimulating collagen production. It’s like using glove oil or saddle soap, only it heals your skin in addition to making it look better! There are also some great eye creams if they look puffy all the time!
Avoid “Baking” In The Sun
If you’re spending the day in the pool, golfing with your buddies, or hiking with your special someone, your skin is getting baked by the sun! Use a good sunblock, at least SPF 30, and wear a hat, preferably a “river hat” style with a brim all around, or at least a ball cap.
Eat More Fruits And Vegetables
Mom was right! Not only will your bowels thank you, your skin will thrive! Some fruits are rich in lycopene, like watermelon and tomatoes, an amazing antioxidant that helps repair your skin. And those green or vibrant-colored leafy vegetables are full of carotenoids, also antioxidants, and help give your skin that studly glow.
Drink Lots Of Water
Remember, our bodies are about 78% water, so if you don’t drink enough, you get dusty! Your skin gets ruddy and ashy, and loses volume. And even though alcohol has water in it, I’m talking about water alone!
Decrease Your Sugar Intake
This can be hard, since sugar is in everything. But in addition to making your pants tight in the wrong way, sugar has a negative effect on your skin. Who wants that crepé skin that makes you look like the Cryptkeeper? That’s what too much sugar can do!
So remember, there’s nothing un-masculine about taking care of your skin. You cut your nails, shave your face, get haircuts, brush your teeth, and maybe even manscape. At least, I hope you do most of those! So add skin care to your daily routine. You’ll get that competitive edge. Put your best face forward!
