4 Engaging Video Games For Mature Men

No matter how old we get, we always enjoy playing games. Particularly the ones where we don’t have to break a sweat. From the primitive board games of our youth to the high-tech video games of today, some of us still enjoy the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat – especially when we don’t have to get out of our chairs!

Sometimes, even the most childish game can hold the attention of a mature person. It can be a fun way to kill some time and to stimulate your mind. Studies show that playing games is actually a healthy exercise for the brain from which men can benefit.

These video games might require a completely different skill set than traditional games, but they have a quality that can make even grown-ups become addicted to them. So, let’s see which ones guys over 50 are enjoying.

Our List Of Video Games

Tetris

The name sounds familiar, right? TETRIS is a revamp of the good old Tetris with brighter colors and better features. Chances are many men must have played the older version of this game at some point in their lives. The game is simple – you have to keep your play area clear by aligning the blocks of the same color in a row to eliminate them. It’s a favorite for middle-aged men in the waiting room at their doctor’s office. Tetris is available to download on the Apple App Store (for iPhone and iPad devices), and the Google Play Store for phones and tablets running Android.

Words With Friends

This game is highly recommended for men who have a remarkable vocabulary. If you’re a word buff, then this is the game you should be playing whenever you’re looking just to pass the time. In short, this is like digital Scrabble. You can pick friends from the list and chat with them if you want to. Men who have command of other languages can try their luck playing this game in a foreign language as well. This one’s very popular with husband’s waiting for their wives while they’re shopping in stores.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds is one of those games that can become an instant favorite of a 12-year-old and a 60-year-old. You can get so involved in this game that you can spend hours aiming the birds at the targets and scoring points. Considering the level of attention that is required for playing it, and with all the bright colors and amazing graphics, Angry Birds is just great for the brain. And it’s perfect for anyone who is stranded on a desert island and literally has nothing better to do all day.

Quell

Men love puzzles. Who knows why? Probably from years of trying to figure out women. The more complex a puzzle is, the more fun it is for men to solve it. And if you’re that sort of a man who’s interested in solving challenging puzzles, then Quell won’t disappoint you at all. Due to the high level of concentration involved in this game, it’s safe to say that Quell enhances your memory. It’s one of the reasons why men are given puzzles to solve in old-age homes.

The variety of games that are fit for men over 60 to play is endless. Some men even like to play Candy Crush at least for an hour every day! Seems like it’s not just kids who’re making these mobile games so successful but it’s also our generation who knows how to spend their time working their thumbs and exercising their brain.

Some of us have already tried playing these games with our grandkids on their consoles, but that’s just a good way to feel really old. Most games are also now available on your smartphone. So you can easily play them by yourself, without anyone making fun of you. Of course, we’re assuming you own a smartphone good enough to play games on. If you don’t, you really should join the 21st century. It’s time you got in the game!
